Coronavirus outbreak: Protesters in California demand end to COVID-19 lockdown

Protesters in California cities including San Francisco, Huntington Beach, and Sacramento, rallied on Friday to mark May Day with a protest against the state-wide shelter-in-place order to prevent further spread of COVID-19. Many of the protesters held signs criticizing the order and demanded that it be lifted so they could return to work. One drive-thru protest in Sacramento saw dozens of cars line up outside the state capital, while In Huntington Beach, demonstrators stood shoulder-to-shoulder with beach-goers defying beach closure orders. Protests were also held on May Day in multiple cities across the U.S. to call for their states to reopen.
